Taxi drivers in Johannesburg are allegedly forcing illegal foreigners to close and abandon the Bree taxi rank. Only South Africans are permitted to trade after verification. They stated that they are tired of illegal foreigners dealing with drugs and counterfeit goods and have sworn to keep the BREE taxi rank drug-free.

According to the taxi drivers, foreigners are pretending to be selling equipment’s, food and clothing while they know behind that they are selling drugs for their children. They said they won’t even allow one Nigerian inside Bree taxi rank because they can use other ways to sell their drugs inside the rank.

“We have been quite about this issue it is time for the foreigners to leave this rank, we have been seeing people going in and out and it is the same people which we discovered that there is something behind selling equipment’s and clothing,” said Sakhile Ndlovi, a taxi driver.

The majority of people agree on what the taxi drives are doing, they also want foreigners out of the rank.

Johnny Sebothoma said that at least the taxi drivers are matured and are doing something they were supposed to do long time ago. Waiting for the law-enforcements and government to act is just a waste of time, because they have to go to their master to ask a permission for any action to be taken. He further added that he is happy that at least the taxi drivers are going somewhere with this matter.

These are the comments from people on twitter.

Some people are against what the taxi drivers are doing, and some see an opportunity to go there and sell for themselves.

Kelebogile Mogorosi said, “Are they barring foreigners from entering their taxis as well? I highly doubt that taxi drivers are good at disrupting other people’s hustles, but they will never do anything that jeopardizes their own hustle.”

In the audio below, Luthando Zwide gives his opinion on this matter of foreigners being chased away by the taxi drivers.

The taxi drivers want no discussion to be made about this matter, they are not allowing any foreigner inside BEE taxi rank and that is how they conclude this matter.

This is what people had to say about the matter.

Taxi drivers don’t own the taxi rank. They don’t have a right to close and remove anyone unless those people do not know their human rights. They should contact NGOs.

The government won’t do anything about all the wrong doing in this country, I am not surprised that people are acting out.
