Little Manhattan got disqualified after physical fight in the field

 Little Manhattan competed against Matemba FC, the soccer tournament took place at TUT main campus on Saturday, 15th of April however the match did not end as expected, this comes after little Manhattan got disqualified after they disputed the referee’s decision which led to a physical fight. Although they were leading with two goal to one.

"Both of the teams were doing a great on the ground, that was a fair game up until the referee said, there should be a penalty for the other team because of a foul, ‘’my player did not kick the other player, that was a fair game, I understand why my players were angry," said Sandile Dlamini, coach of the Little Manhattan team.

The referee of the game Smangaliso Mayile said, "I was so shocked when I saw the other team attacking me because that was a fair game and that was supposed to be a penalty, and what they did is considered as a violent conduct, and they were immediately disqualified from the tournament match because they fought me."

Mthandeni Gama a player from little Manhattan team said, “I did not do anything to the player, I just blocked the ball and the referee is choosing the sides because he is one of their own, he just wanted to cover the other team, that was not supposed to be a penalty at all.”

Everything was resolved and no player was injured. Sandile Dlamini concluded and said, “We as a team we are looking forward for the future matches and learn from our mistakes and I will make sure this incident never happens again.”

Killers FC won against Junction

The match ended up with a draw of 1-1 between the two teams and moved to penalties and Killers FC won 5-4. A huge Fresher’s party at Little Manhattan

The reason for the event was to freshen up students’ minds, allow them to distress them from their academic and to enjoy themselves before they write exams. Poster created by: Kevin Phehla The event was not only for the Manhattan students, some students from other residence were also invited but were charged an entrance fee of R100. Due to not having electricity on that day, the event did not start at the promised time. The residence manager had to organise a generator because it was getting late and the event hadn’t started. The event started around 19:00 and there were few people because students thought the event is no longer happening.
